I love Shirley Manson. And I don’t think Jessica Simpson is the sharpest tack in the box, but she does have talent. She just chose to go into pop music which is reviled among the alt-rock crowd. I would sooner go to a Garbage concert than most other shows but I think Shirley is a bit harsh. I think Shirley is a hot looking chick. I bet she is a heckuva shag. Probably better than Jessica. But Jessica is not as dumb as one would believe. I don’t think you get to her level without being a little bit smart about things. Her business, music and movie careers are probably all handled by others but I still think there is a lot to the girl than just being a pop-diva barbie doll. I won’t be downloading a Pretenders orBlondie record any sooner than I will a Jessica Simpson CD, but I will continue to listen to all my Garbage. Now that is good rock.

Shirley is absolutely right. People have become so submerged in who’s young and hot that the real talent and quality of music has been lost in this new generation of young people. I think everyone should educate themselves on the classics like Blondie, The Pretenders, Concrete Blonde(In my Opinion), Patty Smith, Billy Idol, Pat Benetar, etc… I just hope that in the future we go back to real quality and fight the record companies who don’t let artists go in their own direction because they just want to make a buck.
